Jenny Morel hints of Silicon Welly

By Tim Norton | Mar 29, 2007

Monday’s NZ Herald featured an insert called ‘the Business’ and just inside was a snippet on Jenny Morel one of New Zealand’s leading VC’s. Jenny founded No. 8 Ventures in 1999 after a career in investment banking including her initial technology investment business Morel & Co.

In the column on “5 things to know about Jenny Morel” Jenny say’s if we could have a Silicon Valley it should be in Wellington. The journalist writes “Silicon Welly, anyone?”

Excellent to hear this from Jenny. I presented at the New Zealand Software Association a few weeks ago which Jenny attended, where she said that No. 8 funds are largely invested, but there is a “slither still available”, lets hope theres more action from the VC’s this year to match Angel investment action thats happening with People like Rod and Sam, so that we get the technology investment pipeline
moving at all stages.
