Government 2.0

By Tim Norton | Jul 21, 2007

I find there are an increasing number of people who care about the country, its direction and are actively doing things to take it where it needs to go. The governments calling it export year, and for all us building exporting businesses, this is the sort of initiative we hope to see plenty of execution on. I’ve always seen business as my main vehicle for driving change and achieving results for the country and a lot of people think this way to. In this environment you start to see that with all these people working on the country’s direction, if the government organises itself appropriately, we have a far larger pool of people working on the issues, solving problems and making things happen. Here in lies the governments major challenge, move beyond the walls of the government as an organisation of employees.

Peoples involvement in Government

The government has just today completed their GOVIS conference, and I was a few weeks ago contacted by one of the keynotes who flew in from San Francisco, Tara Hunt (who’s involved in heaps of initiatives on and off the web) after she came across the Silicon Welly site. I haven’t been able to squeeze in getting to GOVIS today, but heres the presentation from Tara delivered today on Government 2.0, and the big push ofcourse, harness and connect with the power of the people who already want to and are equipped to help.
