On September 15 a big local crew are pulling together BarCamp Wellington. Barcamp is a cool sort of un-conference where everyone participates. Its not about just listening to a bunch of pre-arranged speakers its about speaking, discussing and sharing ideas - all the people attending setting the agenda. Pop along!
Sound like Chaos? Well an event organiser would probably say so, but in the end it gets everyone in the right mode, you start the conference by thinking about what you can contribute, thinking people at conferences = way better and more learning.
Nat Torkington organised a BaaCamp in sunny Northland earlier this year and it was a brilliant weekend, the people centric format was a real winner.
Tara Hunt who was over here recently as the keynote at the GOVIS conference is one of the key people behind getting BarCamp happening around the world has just wrapped up the latest BarCamp in San Fran, and I’ll be hopefully working out the co-working space they run in San Fran while there over September while the Wellington BarCamp goes off, get along there.
