Celsias launch at DEMO 08

By Tim Norton | Jan 13, 2008

Wellington based global climate change blog and growing community of climate change projects Celsias is launching at this coming DEMO conference in a couple of weeks. It’s great to see more New Zealand web companies launching at global events such as DEMO, this is the second kiwi company to launch at a DEMO event in after we launched PlanHQ at DEMO 07 Fall last year, I think this year we;ll have a kiwi launch at all this years launch events. I’ll be posting about the keys ones coming up soon.

The Celsias Crew

Some of the crew in behind Celsias include co-founder and CEO Nick Lewis, who’s an ex-wallstreet banker who migrated with his family to NZ a few years ago, Nick Gerritsen of who’s a founder, adviser or investor in several new sustainability ventures such as Aqua Flow who are harnessing algae of sewerage ponds as bio-fuel, and Derek Elley and Dave Ten Have of Ponoko are investor directors along side ex Christchurch mayor Vicky Buck. These guys put together with a growing team of authors around the world lead by king writer Craig MacKintosh show signs of a cool and useful web asset around sustainability based out of New Zealand. I’ve traveled the US with Nick Gerritsen on a capital raising trip for Energy Intellect back in 2002 where we met Nick Lewis who firm became our investment bankers.

Growing the NZ position in Silicon Valley

There’s going to be a lot more connectivity with the US going on in New Zealands online space this year. Sales will flow, capital will be raised, partnerships established, we will weave ourselves into the fabric of Silicon Valley.
